What To Expect At Your Horses Appointment?
- I’ll start by taking a thorough history with you - understanding why you’ve asked me to see your horse, and reviewing any veterinary investigations or treatments they’ve had
- We’ll talk about your support team - farrier, saddler, dentist, nutritionist - and how we can work together for your horse’s benefit
- I’ll watch your horse move in-hand and if possible on the lunge, unless there are any exercise restrictions
- If you have any videos of them being ridden, I can review these too
- Next, I’ll do a hands-on assessment - feeling for pain, stiffness, movement limitations, throughout the whole body
- After the assessment I will build a treatment plan tailored to your horse and we will go through this in the session

Exercise Prescription
To get the most out of your treatment you will commonly be given and individualised exercise or rehabilitation plan for your animal.
This is for you to continue after/between sessions.
Exercise prescription involves creating individual rehabilitation and conditioning program to address the problems identified in the assessment process.
Each plan is customised to your animal’s specific needs, whether for post-injury care, managing chronic conditions, or optimising fitness and performance

Electrotherapy
Laser
We have a class 3B Laser which may benefit your animal's program.
Therapeutic laser can help reduce pain and inflammation and speed up healing after injury.
It is a non-invasive procedure which can be incorporated as part of your wider treatment plan.
Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation
Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES), also known as e‑stim or muscle-stim, is a common electrotherapy modality used in veterinary physiotherapy to support muscle health, function, and recovery.
It can help to enhance strength, improve circulation and promote pain relief and healing.
